Biographies:
Fiona Hindmarsh is the CEO of Significant Capital Ventures – a venture capital fund headquartered in Canberra investing in the early stage commercialisation of applied technology. The fund is sector agnostic but has a bias toward technologies emanating from university research with the propensity to disrupt global industry value chains. SCV has been investing in this sector since 2000 and have had numerous exits and plenty of learning experiences. Fiona’s prior experience includes 15 years in investment banking financing start-up projects across power, mining, infrastructure, logistics and telco sectors, leading capital raisings ranging from $300k to $1bn and working with ultra high net worth families on intergenerational wealth planning and succession. Fiona is an active investor, mentor and advisor to start-ups, driving global scaleup impact through strong negotiation, structuring, operations, risk and governance skills. She holds several non-executive director positions including: the Oceania Cyber Security Centre, Melbourne Grammar School Foundation, and integrated property business, Hindmarsh.
Jason Coonan is a successful leader of businesses that have innovation at their core, with over 20 years of experience working across research & development, intellectual property management, technology commercialisation, venture capital investment, operational and strategic leadership. Currently Jason leads Breakthrough Victoria’s advanced manufacturing investment portfolio, connecting entrepreneurs and companies with capital, knowledge and networks in order to create the next generation of advanced manufacturing enterprises in Victoria that can create global impact. Prior to this, he was Deputy-CEO of the Innovative Manufacturing CRC, a leading manufacturing innovation organisation that catalysed over $250 million of investment into industry 4.0 R&D with Australian manufacturers.
Danielle Haj-Moussa is an investor at Main Sequence Ventures, a deep-tech fund commercialising Australian research and now with over $1B under management. Danielle has a background in both Law and Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Sydney where she won the University Medal for her work on computer vision for autonomous vehicles. Leveraging this background, she primarily focuses on finding the next generation of AI and robotics companies, including those who work on supercharging manufacturing capabilities. Prior to joining Main Sequence, Danielle worked as a software engineer at Accenture and undertook extensive policy research in the Artificial Intelligence space. Danielle is also co-founder of Tech for Social Good, an NFP that empowers the next generation of impact tech leaders across industries.
