David Martin has joined the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) starting 12 July 2021.
David’s Strategic Partnerships role will see him provide focused support to Australian businesses that can benefit from ANFF’s open access micro/nanofabrication equipment and expertise.
The primary purpose of this newly created role is to create tangible impacts for companies through interaction with the ANFF network. David will be a key interface between ANFF and external stakeholders such as industry clients, industry organisations, economic development agencies and national representative bodies.
David has had a diverse career ranging from running his own businesses, management roles within commercialisation programs, and most recently focusing on building Social Enterprises and work in the NFP sector.
Throughout these various positions, the continual trend has been a keen focus on maximising opportunities for Australian businesses. This is demonstrated through the delivery of financial assistance totalling more than $22 million dollars to innovative SMEs, ensuring Australian companies’ involvement in $88 billion-worth of major projects, and by matchmaking more than 150 commercially astute research/industry collaborations that have resulted in novel technologies and jobs of the future.
In his personal life, he is a self-declared crowdfunding tragic, thwarted blacksmith, and doting dad to two dachshund fox terrier crosses.
On his appointment, David said: ‚ÄúI am genuinely excited to join the ANFF team. Our open access research infrastructure not only supports world class research, but the capacity and capability that underpins this allows our partners to focus on the crucial ‘D’ of R&D and get their products to market more quickly, and with greater impact.‚Äù
