Staff exchange and investigations into research collaborations are underway thanks to Industry of the Future, a joint academic appointment between UniSA and French academic partners, funded by UniSA and the Brittany Region.

Representing the Future Industries Institute (FII), Associate Professor Craig Priest and Dr Moein Kashani have commenced a new collaboration with Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) at the Universitat Bretagne Sud (USB). The South Australia-Brittany Research Collaboration Grant has already enabled Dr Kashani, a fluidics simulation expert, to travel to Bretagne, France, to nurture the new collaboration between A/Prof. Priest (FII) and Prof. Philippe Mandin (IUT). Already, FII has welcomed an internship student from USB, Ms Falmata Giou, who is studying surface phenomena using microfluidic devices.Dr Kashani’s visit to France has helped strengthen and expand academic and industry relationships
and identified new research and training opportunities to drive innovation between the two countries.

Delivering presentations to multiple institutions and industry, Dr Kashani highlighted UniSA, FII and ANFF-SA’s strengths and simulation capabilities to high profile academics, industry leaders, researchers and PhD candidates. His discussions for collaboration were extensive and related to various applications of computational fluid dynamics in new device design optimization and development, scaling up, and simulation of results for illustration, training and new products. The strong support of the South Australian Government Department of State Development, UniSA and the Brittany region has enabled Dr Kashani and A/Prof. Priest to nurture this new relationship, through which they intend to strengthen industry-focused capabilities and educational cooperation between South Australia and Brittany, France, and support the future of Australia’s Industry 4.0 industrial landscape.
