The Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) has announced Dr John Morrison as Director for the Network’s newest capability platform, ANFF-C.
ANFF-C has been created to deliver out-of-lab support for commercially promising ANFF-enabled projects in collaboration with their stakeholders. The broad range of capabilities on offer ensure that our client’s exciting R&D can be supported as they look towards leaving the nest, headed for the stormy skies of industry. Interactions are tailored to a project’s requirements, but qualifying clients can tap into a number of services that might range from industrial design consultancy through to company creation, or market analysis.
With an in depth understanding of what it takes to turn R&D projects into investment-ready outcomes, John is the perfect person to lead the ANFF-C platform. He has an extensive history supporting inventors and commercialising technologies through a career that has involved a variety of roles within Medtech start-ups, and Director positions focused on translation at The Swinburne University of Technology and Monash University as well as within his own consultancy firm, Morrison Consulting.
Dr Jane Fitzpatrick, ANFF CEO, said: “We are excited to welcome John to this role and the greater ANFF network. At ANFF we are in the unique position where we see new technologies being created every day. ANFF-C, under John’s leadership, will provide guidance and critical support so that the IP generated with our help can reach its potential.”
John Morrison said: “ANFF recognises that need to nurture the intellectual property developed at our facilities to support the development of new companies, creating new jobs and services. Converting Australian research into successful outcomes will lead to a new high-tech manufacturing base which is so critical for our continued success as a Nation.”
With several trailblazing ANFF-C projects now well under way or completed, John commences as the Director of this new endeavour as of 7 March 2022. He will be working to make sure ANFF-C becomes a service of real value to ANFF’s client base and the Australian economy.
