Ben completed the Bachelor of Technology in Optoelectronics with Honours at Macquarie University in 2004, and completed his PhD in optical physics, also from Macquarie in 2008. He has been involved in laser micromachining projects for both academic and commercial purposes since 2002. Ben currently manages the Optofab node and operates the nano and femto-second laser machining facilities at Macquarie University.
