Metallography, is a specialised field that utilises microscopes designed to analyse and inspect the microstructure of metallic samples. These microscopes differ from standard ones as they use reflected light to illuminate the sample, allowing for the examination of non-transparent materials. With high-resolution optics, they can reveal details such as grain size, inclusion content, and porosity, which are critical for understanding the material properties and ensuring quality in metallurgical processes.
