Fresh faces in ANFF–Materials at the University of Wollongong

The Australian National Fabrication Facility is excited to announce staff changes in our ANFFMaterials Node. Mr Daniel Lawrence has been promoted to the leadership team of the ANFFMaterials Node as Facility Manager, while Dr Jeremy DiNoro joins the University of Wollongong (UoW) Hub as an Additive Biofabrication Scientist.

Operating across UoW and the University of Newcastle, ANFFMaterials provides the infrastructure and expertise to enable scaled processing of the most advanced materials, as well as state-of-the-art fabrication facilities to develop innovative structures and devices. This facility has supported achievements in Energy and Health sectors and collaborated with established companies and emerging firms like Axcelda, iFix Medical, Aquahydrex, Hysata, Sicona and Phycohealth.

Daniel Lawrence, formerly a Design Engineer with the ANFF-supported Translational Research Initiative for Cell Engineering and Printing (TRICEP), brings extensive engineering experience to the leadership team. With expertise spanning medical, aerospace, nuclear physics and regenerative medicine, he has consistently delivered engineering solutions that advance scientific research and enhance market potential.

On his promotion, Daniel remarked, ‘Having been actively involved in advancing ANFFMaterials’ mission, I’m excited to take on this new role as Facility Manager, where I’ll be able to offer greater support to our incredible team and their groundbreaking projects. This role brings the opportunity to expand access to our facilities and deepen our collaborative work with researchers and industry partners. I look forward to building on what we’ve achieved so far and further contributing to the innovative work that defines ANFF.’

Dr Jeremy DiNoro, ANFF–Materials Additive Biofabrication Scientist

Dr Jeremy DiNoro specialises in additive biofabrication. His experience includes creating 3D printed skin for burns victims with Pia Winberg from Venus Shell Systems, mini livers for drug screening at Utrecht University and 3D printed bone for cancer patients, trauma victims, and children with congenital abnormalities with Anatomics. Jeremy shared his excitement, saying, With world-class equipment and facilities spanning polymer, ceramic and metal 3D printing, to bioprinting organs and tissues, I can’t wait to see what the fascinating world of Biofabrication has in store for me!

ANFF warmly welcomes Daniel and Jeremy, whose combined expertise in engineering and biofabrication will strengthen ANFFMaterials’ capabilities in advanced materials and fabrication techniques. Together, they will help drive innovations that will have huge impacts across our society.
