The Australian National Fabrication Facility is delighted to announce A/Prof Steve Shu as the new Academic Director of the University of Sydney’s Research and Prototype Foundry and the ANFF-NSW USyd Hub Director.
Associate Professor Shu brings with him a wealth of experience, holding a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Melbourne and nearly two decades of impactful work across both academia and industry. His distinguished career includes key roles at IMEC, a global leader in microelectronics research, and ASML, the world’s foremost supplier of semiconductor equipment.

With a strong commitment to innovation and collaboration, Associate Professor Shu is poised to lead RPF into its next chapter – enhancing its capabilities to support the University’s cutting-edge research and strengthening the broader innovation ecosystem.
ANFF-NSW is a collaboration between UNSW, the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney to provide world-class research infrastructure for micro- and nanofabrication. ANFF-NSW has a technology focus on nanoelectronics, nanophotonics and quantum devices – and has strongly related clean-room facilities, with significant complementary capabilities in semiconductor device processing
