ANFF took centre stage at the 2025 European Nanofabrication Research Infrastructure Symposium (ENRIS) in Bologna, Italy, where its delegation of experts shared insights into advanced manufacturing, client engagement and open-access facility management.
ENRIS is a biannual international symposium on nanofabrication cleanroom operation, facility management, user training and best practices organised every two years by EuroNanoLab, a European consortium that coordinates and promotes nanofabrication research infrastructures across Europe.
The event brings together experts, researchers and facility managers involved in nanotechnology and microfabrication. It serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing challenges and fostering collaboration in the field of nanofabrication.

ANFF was well represented at ENRIS 2025, with a dynamic lineup of speakers who showcased Australia’s expertise across a wide range of nanofabrication topics:

- Jane Fitzpatrick (ANFF CEO) – Plenary Lecture: The R&D&C landscape in Australia for chip manufacturing
- John Morrison (ANFF-C Director) – Advancing Australia’s manufacturing capabilities
- Oded VanHam (ANFF Client Engagement Facilitator) – Bridging the gap: Enhancing client engagement at the Australian National Fabrication Facility
- Roger Ackroyd (ANFF-NSW USyd) – Leveraging Python for automation and image analysis in nanofabrication
- Pradip Singha (ANFF-QLD Griffith) – Advancing silicon carbide nanofabrication at ANFF-QLD: Innovations in 3C-SiC deposition and doping
- Nicolas Voelcker (ANFF-VIC Node Director) – The Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN) – Operating an open-access nanofabrication facility as a joint venture
- Vahid Adineh (ANFF-VIC MCN) – Integrated generative AI, machine learning, and genetic algorithms frameworks to model and optimise micro-nanofabrication processes: Application to femtosecond laser micromachining
- Michael Stuiber (ANFF-VIC MCN) – Fostering direct write lithography: Building an Australian community for knowledge sharing and collaboration
- Karyn Jarvis (ANFF-VIC Swinburne) – The Australian National Fabrication Facility expert working group program.
Our CEO Jane Fitzpatrick said, ‘This is such a wonderful opportunity to meet with our colleagues from all over the world. And to do it in the beautiful city of Bologna, with its colonnades, good food and wine, has made it all the more enjoyable.’
ANFF thanks EuroNanoLab for the opportunity to contribute to this important global dialogue on the future of nanofabrication. Events like ENRIS play a vital role in connecting the international research community and reinforcing the value of open-access infrastructure in accelerating deep tech innovation from lab to market.
